Teaching and research interests
My research deals with topics in the social and cultural history of the Ancien Régime, using statistical and quantitative methods. The particular field of study I have chosen are the French Antilles from the early centuries of colonisation up to the abolition of slavery in 1848. The central focus of my work is the modelisation of a system for naming and defining people which allows the identification of the socio-cultural strata of the different components of colonial society.
